Hike, snorkel and swim at the spectacular Serra Azul Waterval waterfall in Nobres
The Serra Azul Waterfall waterfall is located 24 kilometers from Bom Jardim in Nobres, Mato Grosso. It is without a doubt THE attraction of the region. You absolutely cannot miss this during your visit to Mato Grosso.
The waterfall is located within the 5,700-hectare Santo Antonio Ranch. The ranch was recently acquired by the commercial trade company Serviço Social de Comercio (SESC) and has since been granted conservation status. From the reception, a 700-meter footpath leads down and ends at the waterfall. Don't be mistaken! Within these 700 meters, you must climb 470 steps down and back up!
What does the day look like?
Upon arrival, the receptionist will hand over the snorkels after a brief check-in. Then you walk towards the viewpoint. After recovering from the overwhelming panoramic view—a 45-meter-high waterfall ending in a crystal-clear blue pool—a local guide will hand you the mandatory life jacket and sandals.
From the deck, you are already greeted by a curious school of fish.
The snorkeling lasts about an hour. This is more than enough time to explore the waterfall and the pool, as well as the fish, and enjoy the warm water that flows into the pool from below via a natural hot spring.
Important to know
To protect the water as much as possible, it is forbidden to use sunscreen or mosquito spray before entering the water. To protect yourself from the sun and mosquitoes, we therefore recommend wearing a long-sleeved shirt as well as leggings/long pants. There is a changing room at the reception.
There is no restaurant on the premises. Therefore, bring enough food. Water and soft drinks can be purchased at the reception if needed.
How do I book this tour?
The excursion must be booked through an authorized travel agency. Each group must be accompanied by a local guide. If you want to book this excursion, please contact us.
What should I consider?
Transportation is not included in the price. The local guide usually meets the group in the village and therefore also needs transportation. For those who prefer an English-speaking guide, we recommend taking a look at one of the packages we offer, departing from Cuiabá.
Extra activity
On weekends and holidays, for an additional fee, you can fly back to the reception via a 700-meter-long zip line over the treetops! This activity is, of course, completely safe, although... not entirely suitable for the faint of heart.
